2019-06-13: Tom Baker – “The Hawk and The Dove”

June 13th, 2019 by Scott Baker

Tom Baker

Another amazing meeting at the Greatest Rotary Club in the World. Local author Tom Baker came to discuss his novel “The Hawk and The Dove” which develops over six war-time periods: the Viking era, the Peninsula War, the U.S. Civil War, World War II, Rwanda, and Vietnam.

Tom gave a very powerful speech on his experiences as a US Army Combat veteran and explained how The Hawk and The Dove helps symbolize that good people are put in bad situations during war. This novel is a historical fiction with threads of magical realism and romance. Tom thank you for all you do for veterans.

The top three winners spoke at our meeting this week about the Four-Way Test. First place was Addison Blankenship from Smoky Mountain Elementary; second place was Angus Despeaux from Cullowhee Valley Schools, and third place was Joseph Friddle also from Cullowhee Valley School.
